Background

Yoaz Hendel founded The Reservists in 2025 to represent reserve soldiers and oppose Haredi exemptions; he was elected its head on June 9, 2026 and the party held primaries a week later (Ynet, https://www.ynetnews.com/article/emfk75eso; JPost, https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-899614). It polled below the threshold and held merger talks with Gantz and Simchi that stalled over Haredi coalition partners (Times of Israel, https://www.timesofisrael.com/potential-gantz-hendel-simhi-a...). Tropper left Blue and White in May 2026 and began collecting signatures to register a party in June (Israel National News, https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/428183). The two announced a joint list on July 7, 2026 with Tropper first and Hendel second, alternating picks thereafter (Times of Israel). They launched the platform, called the Star of David Plan, on August 5, 2026 in Jerusalem, demanding the National Security Ministry for Hendel and conditioning coalition entry on a conscription law and a Zionist government (JPost, https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/politics-and-diplomacy/art...).
